Our new single, “The Sun Also Sets” drops on Friday, March 6 exclusively on Bandcamp. This new release is the title track of our forthcoming fifth album, and it’s the first new song we’ve shared since the King Charles EP in 2023.

We were thrilled to have members of State College’s own Brass Rats collaborate with us, and their horns add an exhilarating dimension to the track. The addition of brass allowed for an expansion of our sound, which is primarily driven by guitars.

The interplay between the brass instruments and our established indie rock elements diversifies the sound but also and pushed us to experiment outside our sonic comfort zones.

As teased with the title track, The Sun Also Sets album weaves a tapestry of sounds that reflect both warmth and melancholy. Listeners can look forward to an array of musical experiments:  along with  the alternately bruising and intricate riffs and harmonized vocals that inform The Long Afternoon’s previous works, this album incorporates new textures, song structures, and a revitalized two-guitar attack.
